Poovula Kaadhu (ear in flowers)

There is a phrase in Tamizh "Kaadhula poo" which means "flowers wrapped around your ears" which is the equivalent of "someone spinning a yarn".

This phrase comes in handy when describing outlandish movies where you have to leave your brains at the door to continue watching.

Recently watched one such movie and loved it. It was "Wanted"...

Liked the yarn so much that I hunted down Timur Bekmambetov's (wow, I got that spelling right on the first try)Nightwatch and Daywatch in sequence on our Blockbuster online queue.

Nightwatch for some reason, did not have the original Russian languade audio and I had to listen to the English dubbed dialogues. It was a bad experience, what with me trying to understand the concept behind the movie. Told San that I could not understand the movie although the special effects, editing and cinematography were impressive.

Watched Daywatch next. San's original order was to just return it without watching. It would have been a mistake. Now that the "kaadhu already had poo in it", and the concept of good people, "others" and bad vampires, the daywatchers, nightwatchers, gloom, etc. were "well" defined in the previous movie.... Daywatch became a treat to watch.

Interesting.. very interesting way of showing how a simple decision made by an average man has such serious consequences!! Consequences that go across two movies!!

Nightwatch, should watch, but Daywatch is a must watch!
