Our walkway aka Art Gallery
Sunday, April 20, 2014 at 10:09PM Most of the artistic creations of Jr. and the little one from their school work are displayed on the doors of our cabinets in the garage. Granted it is not organized neatly but it is a treat to pull into the garage and stare at some of their early work. Brings back memories and makes you forget long work days at the same time.
We do update the garage drawings on a rotational basis, once a quarter or when daddy feels like it.
The inside of the house is another matter. The walkway is reserved for work they do in art class and we are adding to the collection every month or so.

The display helps motivate them because everytime someone visits our house, they go to the walkway to see the additions and ask the kids questions and encourage their work.
In the process, I am also learning how to improve the "display" by spacing things out right on the walls and re-arranging pictures in portrait vs. landscape format etc.
They do have other works on glass and on "rocks". They are both painting rocks now. Those are going to be tricky to display. Planning to buy little ledges that go on the wall and put the rocks on top.
That will have to wait for a few weeks!

Your hallway looks awesome.. I have a curious question... I have some works of mine that I'd like to frame but the stores like Micheals charge a lot... The first picture you posted looks like you stuck the painting to the already purchased frame... Is that how its supposed to be done ? Do you get such frames in all sizes ? What do you suggest I do to get my works framed ? Also, do these frames have a glass cover or smthg ? Or should I just take it to India and get it done ?

this is what we did after finding out the cost of frames at aaron brothers type shops.
we buy this frame from IKEA in bulk. it is called NYTTJA and comes in three different sizes. the 20cm x30 cm one works best for framing a typical 8x11 inch type sheet. we also buy black paper from local CVS. put the picture on a slightly larger size black paper and then put it in the frame. Looks decent and no so cheap. the good thing is that the frames are pelxiglass and not real glass.. so if some eager guest or kid touches the frame and drops it to the ground you are not set back a bunch of $. hope that helps. as for going to India and framing, we have had many disasters with suitcases full of broken glass. so even with india framing, we choose to do it with plexiglass instead of real glass.
