How to raise your Child - A lesson !!

Todays parent is increasingly concerned with raising the child from infancy to the time he or she becomes a teenager.

The average parent's focus is on bring up your child to be

1. secular (or at least more tolerant towards other religions)
2. not a racist
3. technology friendly
4. social

etc. etc.

We raised our first one very techno friendly and the results are showing already!!

The same approach is being used to for the second one..

You have to give them a strong "foundation" ..

We are raising our second on the pillars of a solid foundation ..

Dont get it.. think Java, Computer Fundamentals, TCP/IP...

Next week we will raise her on C++, Pascal and HTML !!At this rate, the kid should be a geek before she walks..

Sundar, I just want to let you know that I've been reading your blog and I must tell you that I'm really enjoying it. I had a rough day today and as I'm winding down for the day, I'm enjoying reading how you're more "into" Halloween now, how you're going to carve a big pumpkin next year, the whole c-section vs "normal" delivery thing (which by the way is exactly the same sentiment in the Hispanic world), and the funny things Anjana says (like Leggu). :-)

Did you know an aunt of mine told me "That's too bad you had a c-section for your son because you don't love him as much as if he were normal"??????????? Can you believe she told me that????????

Anyways -- So far David is doing fine responding to us in Spanish but its probably because his daycare lady speaks Spanish to him...I have a feeling once he starts Pre-School we'll be in your same boat! So tell grandma good luck. :-)

Again, say hello to San and I hope she's recuperating well. I had a scheduled c-section 2nd time around and recovery was much quicker. I hope she had a much better experience than the first time around...

I am so sorry this commment got this long...I should start a blog of my own!

ioiio, i did not study any of this stuff. the wife did. since i am not a computer major, i dont care about hennessey and patterson.. they should be glad that they are being put to good use .. man, i remember having to pay through my nose for those books in those days when she was a student !!

narayanan sir, wicked angel, my daughter can differentiate between a laptop, desktop, dvd vs audio cd and is probably the only one in the house who knows which remote controls which appliance

visithra, you are right. i swore that i will not be a typical parent when i was a kid and now i am a typical parent. should blog about that soon..

alejandra, welcome to the blog. thanks for the comment. i can totally believe your aunt said that.. i got similar comments from the indian elders. i also got unnecessary comments on "contraception" after the birth.. will not go there. i want to keep my decency on the blogosphere. . . might start blogging on expletives if i go to that topic. and yes, DO start your own blog.. you will have fun.
