Hooked on 24 ..

Over the last year, many a colleague at work has mentioned that the serial "24" on FOX is a must see.

Being regular CSI watchers, the three of us (me, san and MIL) never switched on anything else. Recently, my wife's colleague also suggested we watch "24". So we decided to give it a try and requested the season 4 on Netflix.

They have the events happening over 24 hours shown as 24 one hour episodes, which look like they are happening real time (even the Ad's are timed during dead times in the episode)..

We watched the first four hours on disc 1 and couldnt handle the suspense. So, my brother in law and me went to the local blockbuster and got the remaining 5 DVD's and we practically watched 18 hours of the serial over three days! It did drag a little after the halfway point, but picked up speed again.

Kiefer Sutherland is amazing. I think he could have even pulled off as 007. He is such a natural for the role of a counter terrorism agent!

Now, we are really hooked to this serial.. cant wait to watch season 5 on DVD..

San Francisco Zoo

The long thanksgiving weekend was a washout, thanks to the cold. We did manage to spend 2 1/2 hours at the San Francisco Zoo at the beginning of the break.

In retrospect, the trip could have actually made it worse for us, thanks to the cold weather making the kids worse.

A couple of points about the zoo..

1. It is 70 acres !! Even a 10 hour day wont do justice to this zoo..
2. It is right opposite the ocean. The approach to the zoo entrance from freeway 35 is just awesome. You go up the road and suddenly you are faced with the waves !
3. It has some amazing settings. The giraffe, zebra, ostrich etc., exhibit (theme Africa) is so authentic with the african trees and shrubs that it looks like we are in Jurassic park.

4. The zoo also has a 2:00 feeding time for the carnivores.. they hang the food from the roof and then open up the doors.. the lions and tigers come from outside the zoo to the indoor area and the people start screaming because they get to see the animals in close quarters.

5. There is a cute little puffer train (with steam and the moving pistons !). But it has a separate fee (good thing is that you can pay the fee when you get your entrance tickets).
6. The amazon exhibit was a disappointment.. it is still under change.. Except for the huge anaconda everything else wasnt even visible or obvious.

These may not be the greatest of pictures, but they are all I got with two fussy kids around..

I have promised to visit this zoo in better times and in better health..sure it will be worth it !

Note: you may be standing in front of an africa exhibit.. but it is still 40 F out there. so make sure your kids are well protected from the cold..
