The time space continuum...
The old yahoo photos was long forgotten with Jr.'s first photos safely tucked away somewhere!
Then came the deal to move them all to Flikr.
Realizing that there is now unlimited space for storage, I promptly moved them all. I could have moved them to shutterfly, not that it mattered.
Now came the reminder email. The storage was for a three months only! Now I have to pay 25 bucks to upgrade to Flikr premium. I still have the photos there. Just wont be able to see anything other than the last 200 photos.
What is the point in having unlimited space for a limited time?
They got me on that one, fair and square!!
Now I find that most of my blogger buddies who are Flikr addicts have been paying the premium anyways and they tell me it is worth it.
I may get it for free because we use Yahoo DSL, but have to wait and see..
Now that we are on the topic of paying for storing photos, is Flikr the best? Is there something out there that is better for the same or lower price, or even a few dollars more?
I am getting general feedback that the google photos is not that great (I do like Picassa though), people tell me that smugmug(?) is good, etc..
Let me know!
ps. I am not saying Flikr tricked me or anything. Actually they were emailing me on my yahoo account to notify me that the photos are moved. The first mail in my Flikr inbox does mention this 200 photo/ 3 month thing.. I just opened that email last week. Who knew there was a Flikr email inbox ???

What? Its only for a limited time? I did nt know that. This sucks! Please update if you have any new idea.
Whats with flickr without the c and picasa with double s. Some google search defying spelling scheme?
u can choose to send ur flickr emails to ur email account - just go through the account on flickr to find out more
a lot of photo enthusiasts choose flickr coz of the community but if its just for storage u could try other places like zooomr - but i think most are charging
"I could have moved them to shutterfly, not that it mattered."
actually, it mattered, though not anymore. i got two photobooks out of shutterfly when i moved there when yahoo photos shut down (one for my account and one for v.b.'s). btw, the photobooks arrived today - both of us loved them. if you decide to order one, you might want to add some more pages to the basic one - 40 pages or so appears to be an ideal thicknss (the freebies that we got had 20 pages).
my 2 cents - i use shutterfly for my unlimited uploads (that i can access at tp resolution) and picasa for parents (sooner or later, i will have to start deleting photos from there or signing up for another account ;-)

boo, welcome to the oldest sales gimmick.. imagine what would happen if google suddenly decided that due to some revenue shortfalls, blogger will charge a modest fee of 9.99 to keep your blog or gmail!
visithra, thanks.. almost everyone is charging.. sooner or later..
s.b., shutterfly is unlimited uploads for unlimited time or ???
:)
sundar:
that is my understanding; note that i am not that big a power-user, in the sense that my biggest individual photos are about 1 mb in size. but for sure, i have not hit any ceiling yet :-). also, i have not used any of their editing tools.
