Sweet November

November is definitely a festive month in the house.

All four of us, my sister, my father in law are November borns. Add to that my parents wedding day, which happens to be today! and we are perpetually making calls wishing people back and forth between India and the US.

We had "The Amazing Magic Vijay" perform Magic in our living room for the birthday. This was the best idea that San has had for a birthday party yet! The house was saved from sugar high kids, thanks to the Magic Show. They sat in the same place for more than an hour! They even formed a straight line to collect their animal shaped ballons, a feat that topped the magic show, in my opinion.

Here is a picture of the little one, with what would be the kid's equivalent to a hangover, the next morning..

My little ones are growing up! Sigh!!

Jose.. Jose.. Jose..

Talk about beating Jose to death, literally!

No, there is no physical person being abused here, just that, Jose's name is being over used in our house.

Two weeks ago, Jr. learnt the phrase "No way, Jose!" to emphasize "No way!". I would like to find out who taught her this at school and do . . . .but that is another post altogether.

Jr. tells the little one "No way, Jose!", everytime her sister tries to do anything in the realm of playing.

The little one, a very smart and fast learner I might add, figures out that invoking this Jose command has a lot more power than just simple screaming or wailing and now ends every sentence with Jose! She just turned two and is talking only in full sentences (consciously makes an attempt) and they all end in Jose!

Earlier this evening, Daddy was assembling some recently acquired furniture from IKEA while the little one was running away with some parts and setting up her own assemly plant in another corner of the room.

Me : Bring those back. I need them to finish the shelf!
LO : Don't disturb me Jose!
Me : (getting upset and smiling at the same time) What?!!!
(Jr. started laughing, when she saw the way the little one said that with mischief in her eyes).
LO : I am working, Jose.
Me : I am getting very upset. You know I am going to come there and give you an adi (spank)!
LO : smiles and says "I know, Jose!"

While this cracks me up (and Jr. was laughing hysterically at the whole thing), we need to have a proper plan to wean her off of Jose.

Painful as it may be for me, it is definitely amusing. Will try to secret video this and post it. In the meantime, if any of you have seen your kids experience Joseitis, and know the cure, please feel free to let me know.

We all fall down..

The little one is in the rapid volcabulary increase phase.

Her baby talk is almost falling off and she is now responding in sentences, very expressive sentences.

She says "Damaal Vizhundutten" or Damaal fell down.. the Damaal is a Tamizh word for the sound of the crash (like boom , bang etc.)

Today she was reciting nursery rhymes with her grandma..

Grandma opens the page with Humpty Dumpty and she goes

Humpty Dumpty sat on a Waaaa
Humpty Dumpty had a Damaaaaal

That is the new Tamlish version of the rhyme for you!

Who knows, she might become a famous Tamlish rap star, write lyrics for Tamizh movie songs and I wouldn't have to worry about her college tuition in the late 2010's!

Their first quake

It was just after 8:00 in the evening. Jr. and the little one were playing in the living room. We were getting ready to wrap things up and call it a night when the earth shook.

We promptly ran outside. Waited for a few minutes and then came back in.

The best part was, Jr. knew all about earthquakes and what to do. They had just finished an earthquake drill in their school earlier that day!

Now apparently there is another big one headed our way, or so they say..

Jr. and the little one are practising the

"duck under the table manouvere"

Navarathri

Previous posts on the Golu found here and here..

Last year, we did not cover as many golus and we did not have pictures. This year with the little ones both at an age where they take great pleasure in dressing up, the weekend was hectic.

Here are some snaps from the various Golus we visited and the little ones in all their finery..

They would change their dress between visiting different golus!

The visits will keep going till next saturday!
